3 Day Kitchari Cleanse - Ayurvedic Detox

Doing a detox doesn’t have to be an overly complicated or a super restrictive undertaking. There is an easy way to detox or cleanse your body when you follow this method from Ayurveda.
You can do this gentle cleanse for 3 days. And if you feel you need a longer detox, you may choose to extend your detox days, to 5, 7, or longer number of days.
This is much easier than a fasting cleanse or even a juice cleanse. You will consume light, easily digestible foods during your detox to give your body nourishment and energy, and you won’t need to put a halt on your daily work and life activities, which is a huge plus.

All you need to do is to prepare some kitchari each morning or the night before and eat it for 3 days in a row with plenty of water to keep you hydrated and to flush unwanted toxins out of the body.
You will also have the option to modify the cleanse with some variations if you don't think you can do kitchari 3 meals a day for all the days. See sample plan below:


​3 Day Kitchari Cleanse Plan:
  • Breakfast: Kitchari or Easy Oatmeal 
  • Lunch: Kitchari
  • Dinner (Optional): Kitchari
  • Snack (Optional): light fruit, or small to moderate amounts of soaked nuts or seeds. Any fruits, almonds, or pumpkin seeds are good options.
  • Water: have 8-10 glasses of water per day. It should be room temperature or warm water. Cold or iced water is not recommended.

Some other things to note:
  • Have your meals at least 3 hours apart, giving your body enough time to digest each meal properly.
  • If you choose to have snacks, eat them between meals, at least 1 hour after your meal.
  • For the breakfast Oatmeal option, you can have plain oatmeal or with some fruit.
  • ​​Chew your food well. Think of chewing each bite of food 32 times before swallowing. In this way, you’re making the food virtually liquid in the mouth to make the food even easier for your system to digest.
  • Drink plenty of water. Keep yourself properly hydrated.

Straightforward and easy, right?

My husband and I just finished this 3 Day Kitchari Cleanse after a week of being on holiday and over-indulging. When we finished our cleanse, we both felt lighter, and our bodies felt much more at ease. No more feeling of heaviness, sluggishness, lethargy, or brain-fog.
I'm happy to say that even though it was only a short detox, we have definitely gained a lot of benefit from it, and it was probably the easiest detox I've ever done!
